OVERVIEW

The Custodian will ensure appropriate cleaning of all offices, departments, floors, carpets, windows, seating areas, washrooms, meeting rooms, and all public spaces. A successful candidate for the Custodian position will have prior facilities cleaning experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily hands on cleaning of facilities. Conduct inspections of all offices, departments, seating areas, washrooms, meeting rooms and all public spaces, keeping building in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform heavy cleaning duties. Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum floors. Gather and empty trash. Scrub, sanitize, and supply restroom facilities. Dust furniture, walls, and equipment. Clean windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers. Clean fixtures.
• Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Ensure the proper maintenance of all cleaning equipment.
• Communicate with Operations Manager for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment.
• Activator/self-motivated to accomplish cleaning goals, with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Must be flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Valid Driver’s License.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Basic math skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior facilities cleaning experience preferred.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
• Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals.
• Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, and cleaning solutions.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Custodian works throughout all areas of the dealerships, both indoors and outdoors to effectively clean the building. Will need to stand, walk, and bend to clean. Occasional use of ladder to clean. Cleaning and mopping floors requires physical stamina and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift 35 lbs. for garbage and to empty mop buckets. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete each essential duty satisfactorily. The working conditions described above are representative of those an individual may encounter while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
