Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Facility Assistant, Athletics Department at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Position Purpose

In accordance with the mission of Wayne State University and the Department of Athletics, the Facility Assistant will assist in administering various facets of athletics facilities and operation and coordination of various event operations. This includes day-to-day set-up and breakdown of facilities for practices, competitions and special events, and laundry services for the athletic teams. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director, Facilities and Operations.

 
Essential Functions
 
Prepare activity spaces, including setup and teardown for rentals, camps, and other events; closing assigned buildings.
 
Provide laundry services for all athletic teams. Operate industrial laundry machines (washers and dryers). Maintain equipment and all laundry supplies. Maintain and organize the laundry room and adhere to all OSHA standards, creating a safe and functional work environment. Communicate with athletic teams on laundry needs and schedules. Wash, dry, and put away practice and game gear.
 
Assist with the upkeep of assigned athletic facilities. This includes ensuring facilities are clean, maintaining playing surfaces and equipment, and processing and following up on work orders. Primary responsibility to close up the athletics buildings at the end of the day.
 
Provide functional oversight for game operations and building staff to include students, work-study students, interns, and graduate assistants. Ensure effective and efficient communication of university and department policies and procedures.
 
Assist with the coordination of the athletics master facility calendar.
 
Assist with all WSU Athletic camps and clinics. Working directly with the coaching staff on scheduling, setups and other details tied to the camps and clinics.
 
Performs other related duties as assigned.
 Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education   
 
Bachelor's degree
 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in in sports management or related discipline. 
 
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
 
 
Experience
 
Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
 
Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience, preferably with National Collegiate Athletic Association program.
 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 
Strong organization skills. 
 
Ability to manage multiple tasks, delegating when necessary and completing work within deadlines in a changing environment with multiple priorities. 
 
Ability to communicate effectively with others, including excellent written and oral communication skills. 
 
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
