Job Overview:
The Outside Sales Representative plays a key role in driving growth at U.S. Rentals by developing new business opportunities, building lasting customer relationships, and expanding our customer base within the assigned territory. This role involves identifying and pursuing new leads, managing and growing existing accounts, and working closely with internal teams to deliver the right equipment solutions for each customer’s needs.
The ideal candidate has experience in equipment or industrial sales, strong communication and negotiation skills, and a proactive, self-motivated approach. A passion for customer service is essential, along with the ability to build trust, respond quickly, and represent the company in a professional, positive manner. Key Responsibilities:
Skills:
- Experience in equipment rental or related industry sales preferred, but not required
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers by understanding jobsite needs and recommending the right rental solutions
- Clear and professional communication with supervisors, teammates, and customers via phone, email, and in person
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple rentals, contracts, and customer requests
- Comfortable calculating rental rates, delivery schedules, equipment quantities, and job durations
- Active listening and problem-solving skills to quickly address customer questions, changes, or challenges
- Ability to stay calm, professional, and solution-focused in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
- Proven ability to resolve issues and complaints efficiently while maintaining a positive customer experience
Technology Skills:
- Proficient in handling phone calls, messages, and customer inquiries
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using Google Workspace, including Email and Maps
- Familiarity with equipment rental sales platforms and management systems
Requirements & Daily Responsibilities:
- Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
- Manage daily sales activities including customer outreach, jobsite visits, follow-ups, and rental coordination
- Provide regular sales updates, activity reports, and pipeline tracking to management
- Maintain consistent communication with customers, team members, dispatch, and management to ensure smooth rental operations
- Accurately document customer interactions, quotes, contracts, and rental details in company systems
- Prior experience in equipment rental or equipment sales strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals and company objectives
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to adapt quickly to changing customer and jobsite needs
