Department: Environmental Services
Reports to: Associate Director of Facilities
Compensation: $16.37 per hour
Benefits: Non-Benefits Eligible
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 13.
Position Summary
Housekeepers ensure a positive overall impression of the Guthrie Theater through the effective practice of appropriate cleaning and sanitation standards. This position works with the Associate Director of Facilities, the Environmental Services Assistant Manager, the Housekeeping Leads, and other staff members to ensure that building maintenance requirements are met. As the theater operates daily and is focused on patron and program needs, a flexible schedule is required. All employees are expected to center, model and champion the Guthrie’s core values of Artistic Excellence; Community; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility; and Fiscal Responsibility.
Hours are reflective of the dynamic schedule of the theater and require the willingness to work a flexible schedule to help cover performances in the evenings and weekends as needed. Available shift times are 7am-3:30pm and 4pm-12:30am. (Evening shifts potentially end as late as 12:30am when performances are scheduled.)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Housekeeping Services
- Carry out the cleaning and sanitation activities of the Guthrie Theater.
- Maintain a high cleanliness/sanitation standard of excellence.
- Complete work priorities, daily work lists, and routines which may include the following:
- Follow policies and procedures for housekeeping in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
2. Vendor, Supplies and Safety Compliance
- Restock paper products for employee and patron areas throughout the building.
- Use chemicals safely and effectively, according to specifications. Report issues or concerns promptly.
- Notify the Environmental Services Manager concerning the need for identified building maintenance.
- Assist Guest Services as needed through housekeeping best practices to maintain patron comfort and safety.
- Practice the established housekeeping program to prevent and control the contact and spread of infection.
- Operate and maintain power custodial equipment in a safe manner to oneself and the building.
Essential Knowledge and Qualifications
- Can follow required procedures and protocols.
- Demonstrates a high attention to detail in order to complete tasks successfully.
- Can lift, squat, kneel, reach and be on your feet for the entirety of your shift.
- Can communicate effectively and maintain a positive attitude toward staff, guests and volunteers.
- Can work independently as well as quickly redirect efforts to new tasks when job reassignments occur.
- Can solve problems and work effectively with a variety of departments.
- Can multitask.
- Knowledge of OSHA workplace safety practices preferred.
- A resistance to dust and cleaning chemicals preferred.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours/days reflective of the dynamic schedule of a theater.
