About this job
The Human Resources Generalist services as a key member of the Human Resources Team with primary responsibility for recruitment and hiring activities for Waupaca County which employs 480 individuals. Approximately 70% of this position is dedicated to recruitment, onboarding and hiring support. The other 30% provides administrative support, document management, reception, and office support functions.
Coordinate and manage recruitment including job postings, applicant tracking, screening, interview scheduling, employment offers, and hiring documentation.
Develop, post and maintain job announcements in applicant tracking systems (currently NEOGOV and transitioning to Workday) and various external recruitment sources.
Collaborates with department heads, managers and supervisory staff throughout the recruitment process, providing guidance on timelines, selection practices and procedures.
Maintain communications with candidates throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
Conduct reference checks, background check coordination, and pre-employment requirements, verifies employee certifications, licensure and educational requirements.
Prepare and process offer letters and new hire documentation, including I9 verification.
Assist with on-boarding of all new employees, including coordination of new employee orientations.
Maintain accurate recruitment and hiring records and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Handle general employment related inquiries from applicants and employees and referring complex and/or sensitive matters to appropriate staff.
Serve as front reception coverage as needed, greeting employees, job candidates, and answering phones providing general information with professionalism and discretion.
Provide confidential administrative support to the Human Resources department, including document preparation, filing, scanning and records retention.
Track and respond to public records requests related to Human Resources in accordance with applicable public records laws and internal procedures.
Order and manage office supplies and coordinate with vendors as needed.
Support compliance activities, audits and reporting by gathering and organizing documentation.
PERIPHERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide back up to the Human Resources Director and Human Resources Administrator as needed.
Assist in interviewing candidates when requested.
Assist in special projects and training.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. Two (2) years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees, applicants, leadership and the public.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in sensitive situations.
Highly organized with strong proficiency in managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proficiency in Office 365
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
