SharePoint Platform Architect - Full-time

JOB SUMMARY

 

Relay Resources is seeking an experienced SharePoint Platform Architect to design and establish a single, enterprise-grade documentation and collaboration platform to support a large-scale ERP, HRIS, Operations, and Data Ecosystem transformation.

This role is responsible for defining the information architecture, site standards, templates, permission models, and governance for SharePoint Online ensuring that documentation, processes, and knowledge are organized, secure, and usable across the organization.

This is not a content creation role. The SharePoint Platform Architect builds the structure and rules of the road that Product Managers, Process Engineers, and project teams will use to document work consistently and securely.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1.      Enterprise SharePoint Architecture (Primary Accountability)

 

·       Design Relay’s enterprise SharePoint information architecture, including:

o   Hub sites and sub-sites

o   Standardized site templates

o   Document library structures

o   Navigation and search strategy

·       Establish a single source of truth for ERP, HRIS, Operations, Data, and Change Management documentation

 

 

2.      Governance, Standards & Consistency

 

·       Define and document:

o   Naming conventions

o   Metadata standards

o   Versioning and publishing rules

o   Archival and retention approaches

·       Ensure SharePoint structure supports:

o   Long-lived operational documentation

o   Process ownership and accountability

o   Change Management and training needs

 

3.      Security & Permissions Architecture

 

·       Design role-based permission models aligned to:

o   HR, Finance, Operations, Leadership

o   Least-privilege and segregation-of-duties principles

·       Integrate SharePoint permissions with:

o   Entra ID / Azure AD groups

o   Microsoft Purview (classification, retention, DLP)

·       Ensure sensitive documentation (HR, Finance, Security) is properly protected

 

4.      Platform Enablement & Integration

 

·       Partner with the Enterprise Azure Cloud Architect to ensure SharePoint aligns with:

o   Identity strategy

o   Security controls

o   Cloud governance standards

·       Ensure tight integration with:

o   Microsoft Teams (embedded libraries and pages)

o   Power Automate (approvals, publishing workflows)

o   M365 collaboration tools

·       Design for scalability as additional teams and systems onboard

 

5.      Build & Handoff

 

·       Create reusable SharePoint site and library templates

·       Provide clear implementation guidance for:

o   SharePoint Developers / Administrators

o   Product Managers and Process Engineers (as content owners)

·       Produce platform documentation and standards for long-term sustainability

 

Required Experience & Qualifications

Must-Have

·       7+ years of SharePoint experience, including enterprise-scale implementations

·       Strong experience with SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365

·       Proven experience designing:

o   Information architecture

o   Site hierarchies and hubs

o   Role-based permission models

·       Strong understanding of:

o   Entra ID / Azure AD

o   Microsoft Purview

o   Governance and compliance considerations

·       Ability to operate independently and make architectural decisions

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience supporting ERP, HRIS, or large enterprise transformations
• Experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments
• Familiarity with Change Management and documentation enablement
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Experience working alongside cloud or platform architects

 

What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)

 

• A clear, standardized SharePoint hub is live and in use
• Documentation across ERP, HRIS, Ops, and Data follows a consistent structure
• Permissions are role-based, secure, and auditable
• Product Managers and Process Engineers can focus on content—not platform setup
• SharePoint is positioned as the trusted source of operational truth
