Supporting Libraries One Delivery at a Time

This is a temporary position.

Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a Courier (Temporary) to support library operations by driving a box truck or sprinter van to move materials, furniture, and equipment between library sites. This role plays a vital part in ensuring libraries are equipped to serve customers effectively and consistently across the district.

About the Role

The Courier position supports Arapahoe Libraries locations and other customer locations by helping keep materials moving safely and reliably between sites. In a role that values initiative and reliability, the Courier (Temporary) follows safety protocols, operates equipment such as vehicle lifts as needed, and completes deliveries accurately with customer service in mind.

Key Responsibilities

Material Delivery and Sorting

  • Drives the box truck between facilities and other customer locations to pick up and deliver materials, furniture, and equipment.
  • Loads bins of library materials onto a box truck and sorts them for delivery to various locations.

Maintenance

  • Assists in maintaining all Arapahoe Library vehicles in conjunction with the Facilities Coordinator.
  • Fills the vehicle with gas.
  • Collects and submits fuel receipt for each fill up.
  • Cleans the vehicle interior and exterior as needed.
  • Reports vehicle mechanical difficulties or damage to the Manager.
  • Performs regular vehicle inspections and reports issues through appropriate channels.

Performs other related duties and may contribute to cross functional initiatives and projects as assigned and requested.

What You'll Bring

Delivery Driving Experience: Demonstrated experience driving delivery vehicles, preferably large vehicles such as box trucks, with an ability to safely transport materials and equipment. Customer Service Mindset: An understanding that reliable deliveries and professional interactions support customer service across the library district. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to operate equipment such as vehicle lifts while following established procedures. Reliability and Accountability: Ability to work with minimum supervision, take responsibility for assigned tasks, and complete work efficiently and reliably. Technology Skills: Basic technology skills for Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook, familiarity with Microsoft Teams, and the ability to learn and apply new technologies. Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends. Equity Focused Perspective: Ability to promote inclusivity, embrace diverse perspectives, and prioritize fairness to contribute to a culture of inclusion and respect. Qualifications

Required:

  • 18 months of delivery driver experience, preferably driving a box truck.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Required to pass an internal driving and procedure assessment.
  • Ability to drive a delivery van with automatic transmission.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and complete the job as efficiently as possible.
  • Basic technology skills for Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Microsoft Teams, and an ability to learn and apply new technologies.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience loading and unloading regular and bulky materials.

Physical Activities

Physical activities required to perform essential duties include:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of the time.
  • Must be able to move around 50-75% of the time.
  • Ability to lift to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull a cart weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, reach and stoop 50% of the time.
  • Ability to be mobile 100% of the time.
  • Ability to stand and walk, bend and stretch without limitation, kneel, and, reach with hands and arms.
