Position OverviewThe Pricing Analyst is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining pricing strategies that support profitable growth across multiple regions and customer segments. This role will establish and maintain list prices, regional discount structures, and customer classification pricing, while also creating net prices for highly competitive products that fall outside of standard pricing rules.
The ideal candidate combines analytical capability, business judgment, and system discipline, with the ability to make effective decisions using limited market data by leveraging historical trends, pricing patterns, and competitive context.
Key ResponsibilitiesPricing Strategy & Development
- Establish and maintain list prices across products and markets.
- Develop and manage discount structures by region, customer type, account size, and commercial terms.
- Evaluate pricing requests and recommend actions balancing profitability and competitiveness.
- Ensure consistent, transparent pricing logic across the sales organization.
Competitive & Non-Standard Pricing
- Recommend net pricing for highly competitive items outside standard structures.
- Support strategic pricing for bids, special programs, and market exceptions.
- Leverage historical pricing, deal outcomes, and market signals when data is limited.
Margin & Profitability
- Analyze pricing performance to improve margin, gross profit, revenue, and sales growth.
- Conduct margin analysis by product, customer group, and region to identify opportunities and risks.
- Monitor and challenge discounting trends to enforce pricing governance.
Sales Enablement
- Provide guidance to improve sales effectiveness and reinforce price discipline.
- Partner with Sales and Commercial leaders to increase pricing acceptance and reduce off-structure quoting.
- Create tools and summaries to help sales confidently apply pricing.
ERP & Data Management
- Maintain pricing data in ERP: price lists, discount tables, and customer classifications.
- Upload, validate, and extract pricing data for reporting and analysis.
- Ensure data accuracy through audits, controls, and documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement and automation of pricing workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5+ years of experience in pricing, sales operations, financial analysis, or commercial analytics (manufacturing preferred).
- Proven ability to make pricing recommendations using limited market data and applying structured analytical thinking.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, pricing models, scenario analysis).
- Experience working with ERP systems (pricing modules, data loading, and extraction).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially with pricing data integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial products, distribution, or a multi-region sales environment.
- Familiarity with pricing analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar).
- Understanding of customer segmentation, discount governance, and sales quoting processes.
- Experience supporting strategic bids, exception pricing, or competitive response pricing.
