Position: Account Representative
Reports to: Sales Manager
Pay Range: $40,000-$45,000 per annum
Job Summary
The Account Representative is responsible for managing and expanding customer accounts within a designated territory. This position focuses on delivering and merchandising products, driving sales through customer relationship management, and executing marketing and promotional strategies. This role plays a critical part in achieving sales goals and ensuring customer satisfaction through regular account visits, order placement, and superior service delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sales and Account Management
- Manage and grow a portfolio of assigned customer accounts within the region.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and store personnel.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing and prospective accounts.
- Conduct regular account visits to assess product needs, ensure proper merchandising, and discuss promotional opportunities.
- Take accurate inventory of products in-store and place timely and appropriate orders.
- Consistently meet or exceed sales goals, KPIs, and other performance targets.
- Track sales activities and provide regular reports to the Sales Manager.
- Product Delivery and Stocking
- Deliver and properly stock products in assigned retail locations.
- Rotate product inventory to ensure freshness and compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain product displays, coolers, and storage areas to company and retail standards.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds as part of delivery and stocking responsibilities.
- Ensure all areas where company products are located remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Merchandising and Marketing Execution
- Build visually appealing product displays in accordance with promotional guidelines.
- Ensure all required point-of-sale (POS) materials, shelf tags, and signage are in place and visible.
- Implement product placement and promotional strategies in-store to drive visibility and sales.
- Communicate upcoming promotions, product launches, and brand initiatives to accounts.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in account management, sales, or merchandising, preferably in the beverage or consumer packaged goods industry.
- Proven ability to achieve sales goals and manage multiple accounts successfully.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze account needs and create actionable plans.
- Familiarity with route sales, merchandising tools, and handheld inventory devices preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Regular walking, standing, bending, reaching, and stooping.
- Ability to work in retail environments, including coolers and warehouse settings.
- Must be able to travel between customer sites throughout the assigned territory.
Work Environment
- This role involves frequent travel within a local or regional territory using a company-provided or personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement if applicable).
- Work is performed in a combination of retail environments, warehouse locations, and occasionally outdoors.
- Schedule may include early mornings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime based on business needs.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Ability to meet company vehicle safety and insurance requirements, if applicable.
