Job Summary:

Our company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 3rd Shift Dispatcher to join our team at our regional office. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of managing daily logistics operations independently. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and efficient scheduling of deliveries and pickups, optimizing truck routes, and fostering a professional relationship with our driving team. This position operates Monday through Friday from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM, with opportunities for overtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage daily schedules for deliveries and pickups, ensuring they meet established service levels and efficiency standards.
  • Optimize truck routes and assignments to maximize efficiency and achieve company service and cost objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, providing clear instructions, updates, and support.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and positive working environment with all drivers and internal staff.
  • Monitor transportation activities to ensure adherence to schedules and proactively address any potential delays or issues.
  • Utilize transportation management software and other computer systems to track shipments, update records, and generate reports.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication with customers, internal departments, and other stakeholders regarding shipment statuses.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies.
  • Handle any emergent issues or exceptions in a timely and effective manner.
  • Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a dispatch or logistics coordination role is preferred.
  • Strong ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) or dispatch software.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement efficient daily schedules for deliveries and pickups.
  • Adept at optimizing routes and ensuring maximum efficiency in truck scheduling.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with drivers and colleagues.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of local and regional geography is an asset.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; further education or certification in logistics or a related field is a plus.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 9:30 PM – 6:00 AM
  • Overtime as required

Compensation:

  • The rate for this position is $22 per hour, commensurate with experience.
