Nurse Shift Manager – MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool (Travel)

Location:  Bakersfield, CA 93301
Shift: Days/Nights | 12-hour shifts | Every Other Weekend (EOW)
Start Date: 03/02/2026
Duration: 16 Weeks
 Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Shift Manager to provide on-shift leadership for the MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool. This role combines charge nurse, clinical mentor, and leadership responsibilities to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and staff support across units.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership during assigned shifts

• Serve as charge nurse and float leader based on staffing and census

• Round on patients and address clinical, service, and safety concerns

• Support and mentor nursing staff

• Coordinate patient flow and staffing assignments

• Promote a positive, collaborative work environment

• Act as a clinical resource for staff and interdisciplinary teams

Requirements

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of RN experience

• Recent Charge RN experience required (last assignment)

• Previous travel experience required (no first-time travelers)

Certifications:

• Active RN License (required at submission)

• BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS (AHA or APEX)

Skills & Systems:

• MedSurg/Telemetry experience

• Cerner EMR experience preferred

• Leadership and team management skills

Assignment Details

• Unit: NSM MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool

• Care Setting: Acute Care

• Orientation: 3 weeks (1 week classroom + 2 weeks unit orientation)

• First to float as needed
