Under general supervision cleans an assigned group of buildings or office space; prepares rooms for meetings or conferences and accomplishes minor building repairs.
ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The following illustrates examples of some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Janitor PT. There may be other essential functions, not listed below, in order to accomplish the tasks as presented by the Supervisor.
• Sweeps, mops, and scrubs, floors.
• Cleans rest rooms, parking lots, and surrounding grounds.
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
• Cleans sand urns and sinks.
• Washes windows and walls.
• Polishes metal work.
• Replenishes supplies.
• Replaces soap, paper towels, light bulbs, etc.
• Accomplishes minor building repairs.
• Turns off lights.
• Locks doors and windows.
• Furnishes information to the public.
• Maintains materials and equipment used in custodial work.
• Guards assigned area to prevent vandalism.
• Serves as watchman for the building or office being cleaned.
• Performs other related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of the duties of a custodian.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The following are some of the physical requirements associated with this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made by the city to enable an individual to perform the essential duties/functions of the position.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, swim, squat, kneel, use hand to finger dexterity, feel or operate objects, reach above shoulders, reach below shoulders, lift up to 50 lbs., lift from floor, and lift bulky items.
- Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer and other equipment, as needed.
- Occasionally the employee will run, climb, crawl, and lift over 50 lbs.
- Must have 20/40 uncorrected vision in each eye.
- Hearing must be within normal range to be able to hear adults and children in life and/or health and safety endangering situations.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Ability to read and write.
• Six months janitorial work experience.
• Must have one year of experience in Affordable Housing environment.
