Position: NP Specialty: Trauma Type: Permanent Shift: Part-Time Days Start Date: 2026-04-28 Openings: 1 Facility: Beacon Medical Group Location: South Bend, IN Beacon Medical Group is seeking a skilled, patient-centered Nurse Practitioner to join our Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting and will play a key role in the coordination and delivery of high-quality care across a variety of patient environments—including the emergency department, ICU, OR, and inpatient units.    This position reports administratively to the Practice Manager/Director and clinically to the Practice Site Physician or their designee. You’ll work as a collaborative partner in trauma care, surgical support, and multidisciplinary care coordination while helping educate students and residents.    Key Responsibilities  Clinical Care Delivery  Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, medical histories, and physical examinations.  Develop differential diagnoses and treatment plans based on clinical data.  Perform procedures such as central and arterial line insertions, chest tube placements, and wound suturing.  Provide surgical first-assist duties in trauma and emergency general surgery cases.  Manage pre- and post-operative care and follow-up in trauma clinic.  Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics.  Respond to trauma activations and assist in critical resuscitation efforts.    Care Coordination & Collaboration  Work closely with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams across ED, ICU, OR, and inpatient floors.  Serve as a clinical resource for nursing and ancillary staff.  Triage patient calls and provide clinical consultations as needed.  Facilitate referrals and collaborate with other specialties to optimize care.    Education & Administration  Mentor and teach nursing students, residents, and other pre-professionals.  Support BMG programs through education, outreach, and data management.  Participate in health education initiatives and interdisciplinary care planning.  Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in the medical record.    Quality & Process Improvement  Assist in the development and evaluation of clinical protocols and quality initiatives.  Participate in performance improvement and patient safety programs.  Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and licensing requirements.    Qualifications  Education & Licensure  Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Physician Assistant Studies required.  National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.  Eligible for licensure in the State of Indiana.  Prescriptive authority or eligible within six months of hire.  Current BCLS (CPR) required; ACLS/PALS preferred.    Experience  Minimum two years of relevant clinical experience preferred.  New graduates with comparable clinical rotations and strong references will be considered.  Experience in trauma, critical care, or emergency surgery is highly desirable.    Skills & Attributes  Strong clinical reasoning, procedural skills, and decision-making ability.  Excellent verbal and written communication.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-pressure, team-based environments.  Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning.  Bilingual abilities are a plus.
