Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Data Administration
Collect, validate, and accurately input employee hours, earnings, and personnel changes (new hires, terminations, transfers, status updates) into the payroll system.
Payroll Processing & Calculations
Calculate gross wages, overtime, bonuses, and applicable deductions including taxes, benefits, and 401(k) contributions to ensure accurate net pay.
Payment Distribution
Process payroll via direct deposit and check issuance in a timely and error-free manner, adhering to established payroll schedules.
Records Management
Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records. Update employee information related to compensation, tax status, and benefit elections as needed.
Reporting & Reconciliation
Prepare payroll summaries, tax reports, and related financial documentation for management and accounting. Perform regular payroll reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and company policies, including wage and hour regulations and union agreements where applicable.
Employee Support & Issue Resolution
Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries, discrepancies, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Experience processing payroll in union environments, including familiarity with pension contributions and reporting
- Working knowledge of UKG TLM and/or Paychex systems (preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliation functions)
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with the ability to adapt to changing payroll regulations and business needs
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail
