POSITION TITLE: Graduate Assistant for Operations
DEPARTMENT: Athletic Department
POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Athletic Events and Facilities
REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: Equipment room Staff
EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: Student Employee, Graduate Assistant, Non-Exempt, 990 annual hours
This graduate role is open to individuals who have applied to or been accepted into one of Cedarville University’s graduate programs. The position begins Fall 2026 and includes a graduate tuition scholarship as part of the compensation package. Applicants must maintain eligibility for the associated academic program throughout the appointment.
POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Graduate Assistant for Operations will help foster a distinctive culture in competitive athletics that commissions student-athletes to impact the world for Christ. The Graduate Assistant for Operations will assist the Director of Athletic Events and Facilities with the oversight of compliance, athletic events and supervise indoor athletic facilities, including the Callan Athletic Center and connected facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Strives to reflect the Athletic Department core values: Love for God, Love for Others, Excellence in Effort and Integrity in Conduct. Will offer ongoing support to develop a culture that emphasizes these values.
- NCAA Compliance duties including: roster management, updating Compliance Assistant and FrontRush software.
- Game management duties as directed by the Director of Athletic Events & Facilities.
- Administrative duties as determined by the Assistant AD for Compliance and Operations
- Attending all home indoor athletic events (volleyball, basketball, track) and acting as the main on-site supervisor for the facility and the event (as determined by the Director of Athletic Events and Facilities).
- Completing NCAA reports as necessary.
- Maintaining a commitment to NCAA, Conference, and University rule compliance.
- Reporting any NCAA, Conference, and University rule violations to the Director of Compliance/Student Development.
- Understanding that violations of NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- Assist in the web setup, registration monitoring, and check-in procedures of all athletic camps
- Managing the facility operations of the Athletic Center and coordinating the operations of the Athletic Equipment Room. This includes:
- Supervising the facility setup for indoor events.
- Coordinating the schedule of the Athletic Center with the Director of Athletic Events & Facilities.
- Hanging and maintaining signs and banners in the Athletic Center.
- Coordinating the set-up for all classes held in gym.
- Developing practice schedules for teams using the Athletic Center.
- Maintaining a clean and organized athletic equipment room.
- Overseeing the laundering procedures for all athletic team game and practice gear.
- Insuring that team uniforms are clean and ready for teams as needed.
- Maintaining uniform and equipment inventory.
- Knowing and enforcing all facility policies.
- Working afternoon and evening hours.
- All other duties assigned by the Assistant AD for Compliance and Operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management or a related field
- Experience in college athletic event management
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Pay acute attention to detail
- Show integrity in dealing with confidential information
- Excellent time management skills
REQUIRED MENTAL/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Ability to receive detailed information and exchange ideas through oral communication
- Have knowledge of and ability to use word processing and e-mail computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Must be able to attend to details and deadlines
- Must be able to drive school cars/vans
- Must be able to lift objects of 25 pounds
- Must have, or obtain, current American Red Cross Standard First Aid certification or AHA Heartsaver First Aid certification.
