OB RN Job Description
The OB Registered Nurse provides comprehensive care to obstetric patients throughout the labor, delivery, postpartum, and recovery phases. Responsibilities include patient assessment, monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, assisting with labor and delivery procedures, postpartum care, newborn support, medication administration, and patient education.
When there are no obstetric patients requiring care, OB nurses are expected to float to the Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) unit and provide patient care within their scope of practice. The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with facility policies and standards.
Requirements:✔️ OB Experience Required (Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Recovery)
✔️ Willingness to Float to Med-Surg Unit as Needed
✔️ Active RN License
✔️ BLS Certification (AHA)
✔️ Minimum Required Nursing Experience per Facility Guidelines
✔️ Strong Assessment, Communication, and Critical Thinking Skills
