We are seeking a Tax Preparer to join a local accounting firm in the Hartford, WI area for a direct hire.

Target pay: $25-40/HR

Job pays Hourly:  $25.00 - $40.00/HR

Schedule:

• Feb March April is 40-50 hours a week
• May – Jan is 25 – 30 hours per week

Ultratax  software: nice to have

Looking for someone with experience with individual and business returns. 90% of the business returns are extensions.  

HR Block experience good.

Not at all required but would be great if there was someone open to taking over the business in 5-10 years

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of tax regulations and financial concepts, with the ability to assist clients in preparing their tax returns accurately and efficiently. This role requires excellent customer service skills, as well as proficiency in accounting software and technical accounting practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and file federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Review financial records, including income statements and documentation of expenses, to ensure accuracy in tax filings.
• Provide clients with guidance on tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities.
• Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and answer any questions regarding their tax situations.
• Assist clients in understanding complex financial concepts related to their taxes.
• Maintain confidentiality of client information and ensure secure handling of sensitive documents.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of tax regulations and corporate accounting principles.
• Proficiency in tax preparation for individuals and/or business returns.
• Excellent math skills for accurate calculations and data analysis.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service while addressing client needs.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear interaction with clients.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
