The Food Service Operations Assistant – Nutritional Services provides administrative and operational support to the Head of Nutritional Services while maintaining the ability to assist in kitchen operations as needed. This role supports the efficient delivery of nutritional programs through administrative coordination, combined with hands-on assistance with meal production and service coverage.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working across both office and kitchen environments.
$1000 sign on bonus for those who qualify
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Operations Support
• Provide administrative support to the Head of Nutritional Services, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation
• Maintain accurate records, files, and operational reports
• Assist with ordering supplies, tracking inventory, and monitoring usage
• Support data entry, reporting, and basic tracking of program metrics
• Answer phones, respond to emails, and assist with general inquiries
• Support compliance and food service documentation, including temperature logs, production sheets, and training records
Kitchen & Food Service Support
• Assist with food preparation, cooking, portioning, packaging, and plating as needed
• Provide coverage during peak service times or staff absences
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supply deliveries
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
• Support special events or catering activities as required

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous administrative experience required; food service experience strongly preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and flexible in supporting operational needs
• Clean NYS driver’s license

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work in both office and kitchen environments, including exposure to heat, cold, and standard kitchen equipment

Work Environment
This position regularly transitions between office and kitchen settings. Flexibility is essential, as operational priorities may shift based on program needs and staffing coverage.
