Job Opening: Hospitalist Physician

Join a dedicated medical team at a 61-bed not-for-profit community hospital located in the scenic southeastern Vermont. This facility is committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate, and patient-centered care to a rural population across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. We are currently seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to become part of our mission-driven medical staff.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide direct medical care for hospitalized patients, including admissions, daily rounding, and discharges.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate closely with specialists, primary care providers, and ancillary services.
  • Coordinate patient care plans and ensure smooth transitions of care.
  • Order, interpret, and act on laboratory tests and imaging studies.
  • Document all patient encounters and care plans in the EMR in a timely manner.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, including codes and rapid response situations.
  • Provide ventilator management.
  • Participate in clinical rounds and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement initiatives, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • No procedures required, and work with specialty backup available.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal or Family Medicine.
  • Active Vermont Medical License.
  • DEA License (must be obtained prior to start).
  • BLS and ACLS Certification.
  • Ventilator management experience.
  • Experience running codes.
  • 2-3 years of Hospitalist experience (highly preferred).
  • Rural health experience (highly preferred).
  • Clean malpractice history.
License and Certification Requirements
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification or Eligibility (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine).
  • Active Vermont Medical License.
  • DEA License (must be obtained before starting).
  • BLS and ACLS Certification.
  • Experience in ventilator management and running codes.
