About the Department and/or College
Texas Tech University Libraries serve as a vital partner with students and faculty in their learning endeavors. The University Libraries' system comprises: (1) University Library, (2) Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library,(3) Architecture Library, and (4) Peters Family Legacy Library within the Student Enrichment Center. The University Library is a patent and trademark depository and is one of two regional depositories for U.S. government documents in Texas. The central focus of the Texas Tech University Libraries is to make available 3.72 million physical volumes, electronic resources, special collections and archives, and to offer services to students and faculty that enable academic and research success.
Major/Essential Functions
- Triages the shared inboxes and manages walk-ins by answering questions, providing troubleshooting, and promoting open educational resources and other library resources.
- Participates in leading, planning, and/or implementing assigned OER & Online Learning Office projects, and completes special projects as assigned.
- Actively participates and works across library and university colleges and departments to support OER & Online Learning Office projects.
- Prepares statistical and written reports as needed, including gathering and analyzing OER & TTU Online data.
- Works with the OER & TTU Online Librarian to evaluate and create departmental workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Serves on committees, as necessary.
- Attends library meetings, staff development workshops, and University training courses as needed.
- Plans and presents at workshops, instructional sessions, and assists in planning OER & Online Learning events and conferences.
- Manages departmental contracts assigned by the Associate Dean.
- Monitors and provides suggestions for updates to User and Access Services webpages to meet accessibility standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in area of expertise or closely related area required. Five (5) years of experience in planning, developing, or implementing programs or research grants. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with digital publishing.
- Experience using open publishing and learning technologies.
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) or common accessibility barriers.
- Experience providing marketing and outreach for a department or an event.
- Knowledge of open education, open education resources, and/or open publishing practices.
- Knowledge of digital/online learning or online learning practices.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience with light editorial work.
- Experience working with learning management systems, such as Canvas.
- Experience working with web-based markup and scripting languages, such as CSS or HTML.
- Knowledge of course material selection.
- Experience with data management and data visualization software, such as Power BI.
- Experience working in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
