Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Construction Laborer to perform physical labor on active construction job sites. This role supports Foremen and Superintendents in completing projects safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Review jobsite needs with Foreman and Superintendents to understand the scope of work per plans and specifications.
Perform physical labor, including:
Jobsite clean-up
Rough carpentry
Site logistics
Fencing installation
Deck and platform construction
Protection systems setup
Construction waste area management
Perform selected demolition tasks.
Construct scaffolding as needed and perform fire watch duties.
Act as a spotter for heavy equipment operators.
Manage dumpster vendor schedules and maintain dumpster areas for cleanliness and organization.
Participate in subcontractor and supplier coordination activities.
Review project perimeter daily for security and cleanliness; assist with end-of-day clean-up.
Inventory supplies and notify the Foreman when materials need re-stocking.
Assist other craft workers in their trades as directed.
Track production and completed tasks.
Ensure compliance with company standards, safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security.
Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans and follow all safety protocols.
Select appropriate tools and equipment for tasks; inspect tools prior to use to ensure safe working conditions.
Wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
Identify and escalate problems to the supervisor for immediate resolution.
Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of general construction experience required (or equivalent education/training combination).
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in construction, repair, foundations, and framing.
Ability to read and interpret:
Blueprints
Shop drawings
Structural drawings
Specifications
Scopes of work
Vendor tags
Project schedules
Knowledge of machines and tools, including proper use, maintenance, and repair.
Proficient in using construction tools.
Basic math and geometry skills for measurements and layout.
Ability to accurately measure and read a tape measure or ruler.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Reliable transportation required.
Ability to travel (car, train, air) and work nights/weekends as needed.
