The Role at a Glance
Hilldrup is seeking a motivated Safety Intern to support safety, training, and compliance objectives within our fleet operations. This role provides hands-on experience in transportation safety management, regulatory compliance, and driver training initiatives.
How You’ll Contribute
As a Safety Intern, you will contribute by strengthening fleet safety and regulatory compliance across daily operations. They will support the implementation of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) training, assist with onboarding and monitoring drivers to ensure full qualification compliance. In addition, you will assist with organizing Hilldrup’s safety policies, updating the Health and Safety Manual, and meeting with Branch Operations teams to support Safety Improvement Plans.
The intern will also help develop analytics reports using historical and current loss run data to identify trends and recommend proactive safety measures. Throughout the internship, they will gain exposure to a typical “day in the life” of fleet safety and operations, providing valuable insight into how safety, compliance, training, and operational coordination work together to support a high-performing transportation organization.
Qualifications and Skills
Education/Work Experience
- Currently Enrolled in Business Administration (with a focus on Operations or Supply Chain)
Skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Basic analytical and reporting skills (Excel proficiency preferred)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn ELD systems quickly
- Interest in safety, compliance, and fleet operations
