Description of Position:

The Director of Activities is responsible for planning, directing, implementing ans evaluating activities for facility residents. out with his/her staff and volunteers a schedule of meaningful activities which reflect resident preferences for social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual desires. The Director must be cognizant of all applicable federal and state regulations related to Activity programming in a Licensed Assisted Living facility.

 

Responsibilities of the Director of Activities:

  1. Designs programs to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, and improve daily living skills.
  2. Schedules weekly and monthly activities plans.
  3. Ensures appropriate staffing levels by actively recruiting, selecting, and hiring of department staff.
  4. Empower and encourage team development to offer the best possible activities program.
  5. Manages subordinate staff in day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  6. Ensures that department goals are met.
  7. Forms meaningful relationships with residents and families.
  8. Develops, schedules, organizes, oversees and implements all programs for residents, customized to the resident population’s interests.
  9. Coordinates entertainment including guest lecturers, musicians, and fitness instructors.
  10. Plans regularly scheduled outings for residents; drive the van to take residents on outings including shopping trips, museum visits, and local community events.
  11. Manage monthly purchasing and department budgeting.
  12. Takes pictures during activities and events and maintains Face Book page with regular posts and activity pictures.
  13. Trains Residents Assistants in the importance of activities and specifically in the implementation of individual activities.
  14. Maintain the overall community goals of providing a diverse and meaningful activity program.
  15. Collaborate with other department heads to ensure resident’s accommodations are satisfactory and requests are met.
  16. Ensure compliance of documentation and reporting requirements per state and federal regulations.
