Welder - Submarine Building

Job Description

Cleveland-Cliffs has immediate openings for Welders at our Tilden Mine operation located in Ishpeming, Michigan. Welders are responsible for welding, brazing and cutting on various types of metal using gas and electric welding equipment.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Interprets drawings and sketches, plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
• Performs gas and electric welding in all positions (vertical, overhead, ect).
• Makes any type of size weld, such as "V" lap, butt, ect.
• Cleans, grinds and flame anneals parts and welded joints as required.
• Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
• Performs brazing as required. May perform thermi welding as directed.
• Performs work requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heats, stress relief, allowances for fixup and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage and expansion.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2-year degree in welding or completion of a certified apprenticeship program or at least 2 years' equivalent work experience
• Must be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts
