North Central Utility (NCU), the second-largest Utility Trailer dealer in the US, is looking for a self-motivated and results-driven Trailer Technician/Mechanic for our Fargo, ND location to join our growing family. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Inspect, troubleshoot and perform a variety of repairs on semi-trailers
• Perform all aspects of trailer body & wreck repairs
• Responsible for replacing body parts on reefers, dry vans, flatbeds and various other types of trailers
• Diagnose and make recommendations to manager on repairs as required
• Air and electrical system diagnostics and repair
• Preventative maintenance
• Perform all types of welding (i.e. - aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel)
• Fabricate or modify trailer body parts
• Maintain allocated time on all repairs and modifications
• Certified to conduct DOT inspections (or willing to become certified)
• Perform job assignments in accordance with DOT requirements, government laws, regulations, and ordinances
• All work processes will be electronically documented in the system
• Operate a forklift
• Operate a scissor lift
• Follow company repair and safety best practices
• Maintain established company quality standards
• Maintain and promote a safe work environment
• Use and promote PPE and the use of safety equipment
• Prepared and ready to work at the start of each shift
• Helpful and considerate to co-workers and customers
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and rules of conduct
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times
• Assist other technicians, Service Manager, and Shop Foreman as needed
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Basic set of tools and previous experience preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Driver's License

North Central Utility is one of the largest semi-trailer dealerships in the nation and the largest in the North Central region with 10 locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota. We are a family-owned and operated company with 2nd and 3rd generations taking the reins of leadership.
NCU offers reefers, dry vans, and flatbed trailers from Utility Trailer Manufacturing at all locations and vocational trailers from MAC Trailers in Wisconsin - we sell new and used semi-trailers. With Moore Space, we offer temporary storage container solutions as well.
Our parts department has an extensive inventory of Heavy-Duty Truck/Tractor and Trailer parts. Our broad product line and geographic coverage ensure we are a “One Stop Shop” for truck and semi-trailer parts.
Our service department offers everything from routine maintenance, certified DOT inspections, to precision laser alignment, as well as complete wreck repair for trailers of all makes and models. With the addition of Cargobull reefer units to the Utility portfolio, NCU is expanding our Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) and mobile service capabilities. No job is too big or too small for our skilled service technicians.
