Under immediate supervision, collects fees from the general public for parking vehicle in a Polk County lot, maintains security in County buildings, and/or monitors use of County facilities during evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Position Duties- Computes fees and collects money from people who park their vehicle in a County lot.
- Reconciles parking tickets and money collected on a daily basis and prepares reconciliation report.
- May perform duties as an attendant at the Polk County Courthouse or other Polk County facility to maintain security on weekends when the building is not open to the public.
- May supervise the use of County owned/leased facilities that are rented out to the public or community organizations during evenings, weekends or holidays.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of simple mathematics including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
- Ability to count money and make change.
- Ability to keep records and make reports.
- Ability to work long periods of time in a confined space and a sitting position.
- Ability to monitor activities in County buildings, solve problems, and provide direction to renters.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact with the public with courtesy and tact.
- Graduation from high school, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that will have provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- A criminal background check is required.
- A drug screen is required prior to final offer of employment.
This position is on-call and not a benefits eligible position. Hours and location will vary. Evening and weekend hours are required.
