About this job
Job Description
Imagine the devices your loved ones rely on every day. At STERIS AST, your work helps ensure those products are safe. We’ve partnered with medical device, pharmaceutical, consumer, and industrial companies for over 40 years, operating more than 50 facilities worldwide to deliver trusted contract sterilization. If you thrive in essential, hands-on operations and value a One Team with One Goal culture, this role is for you.
The missionCoordinate the end-to-end movement of customer product through the sterilization lifecycle—maintaining precision, momentum, and accountability.
How you’ll succeed- Direct material flow: move items from unprocessed storage into processing, then load/unload after treatment and stage orders for shipment.
- Own the details: review process paperwork and customer special instructions to guarantee correct processing.
- Keep things moving: monitor equipment used for product transfer, perform minor fixes, and escalate major issues to Maintenance or management.
- Guard product integrity: maintain documentation, place/retrieve/analyze monitoring devices, and take corrective action when needed.
- Manage inventory support: receive, identify, label (as appropriate), and store product per procedure in Shipping & Receiving.
- Respond with care: investigate alarms, report exceptions to the Supervisor/Team Leader/Operator, and assist in resolution within safety guidelines.
- Elevate standards: practice daily housekeeping; uphold GMP, Lean, STERIS policies; support leadership directives and other assigned duties.
- Grow capability: participate in Operator training; as training progresses, you may perform the work of Material Handler I, Warehouse Material Handler, Warehouse Assistant, and/or Operator—and help upskill peers.
- Be ready for physical work, especially in Gamma or similar modalities where strength and endurance are key.
Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, with shifts starting between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
What you need- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs; comfortable working seated or standing with frequent hand use.
- At least 1 year of warehouse experience in FDA/ISO/GMP environments.
- English reading, writing, and speaking proficiency.
- Dependability, punctuality, attention to detail; team-oriented with strong individual initiative.
- Normal hearing range suitable for alarms, bells, and horns.
- Basic computer and math literacy; able to navigate defined system screens.
- Forklift experience.
- Comfort with similar shift structures and hours.
$20.00 per hour, plus eligibility for bonus (as applicable). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid PTO and holidays, and a 401(k) with company match. We comply with any higher county/city minimums; final pay reflects local labor market conditions, years of relevant experience, education, certifications, foreign language fluency, and other factors.
