Job Summary
The Facilities Associate I will support facility operations through cleaning, maintenance, repair tasks, and general building services.
This role requires strong time management, attention to detail, and punctuality.
The position includes janitorial duties, support for office moves, basic facility repairs, warehouse inventory tasks, and responding to maintenance needs in a safe and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning tasks including sanitation of restrooms; waste removal; and wet/dry cleaning of walls, floors, ceilings, windows, furniture, elevators, water fountains, waste receptacles, corridors, halls, stairwells, lounges, lobbies, locker rooms, offices, cubicles, doors, and other assigned areas.
- Follow established cleaning procedures for all assigned areas.
- Collect, separate, and remove solid and recyclable waste to appropriate disposal locations.
- Read and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and regulatory guidance documents.
- Perform tasks safely while adhering to safety and security protocols.
- Report maintenance deficiencies, stains, cleaning concerns, and safety issues.
- Support office moves, including breaking down and reassembling office setups, moving totes, and coordinating computer/phone moves.
- Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing facility structures, including painting, sheetrock repair, ceiling repairs, and door maintenance.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
- Conduct offsite warehouse inventory tracking and storage.
- Perform building audits to identify maintenance and repair needs or opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of building services or trade-specific skills related to facilities work.
- Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
- Experience with contract and vendor coordination.
- Ability to manage and delegate tasks without formal authority.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Team-building skills and ability to gain cooperation from others.
- Ability to assess problems, analyze variables, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to read and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.
- Proficiency with basic mathematical concepts.
- Ability to write basic reports and correspondence.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including:
- Full use of hands and fingers for handling tools and equipment.
- Standing and walking an average of 5–10 miles per day.
- Moderate to heavy lifting over 50 pounds and frequently moving over 100 pounds with carts, barrels, bins, or dollies.
- Vision requirements including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
