POSITION GOAL:
Our Reliability Simulation and Testing team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Simulation Engineer. The role supports team in finite element modeling and stress analysis, with a focus on fatigue and structural analysis. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanics/structural engineering and will perform fatigue life predictions and assessments using FEA software. The goal is to simulate more and physically test less, where practical with a strong importance on first time quality releases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform fatigue analysis of structures
- Support fatigue management programs, analyze fatigue life predictions and damage assessments.
- Utilize FEA tools such as HyperWorks and ANSYS for structural analysis and fatigue life calculations.
- Interpret simulation results in identifying stress concentrations and failure modes.
- Develop and refine FEA models for accuracy and efficiency in fatigue simulations.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports.
- Collaborate with design engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Develop new analytical methods and validation procedures to reduce physical testing.
- Conduct root cause analysis of field failures and develop simulation methods to replicate them.
- Develop, improve, and maintain documentation for best practices, standards, and technical specifications.
- Performs FEA/CFD & 2D analysis on new and existing designs, analysis of the results, writing reports, and working with the designer(s) to improve the products to meet all standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in structural analysis, with a focus on fatigue analysis.
- Expertise in durability simulations with ANSYS, Optistruct and nCode DesignLife.
- Knowledge of structural analysis, MBD and fatigue theory.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials behavior, and fatigue analysis.
- Strong understanding of carbon steel structures, composites, weld joint classifications and bonding within a manufacturing environment.
