The Groundskeeper provides quality landscape/grounds maintenance services. Services must be performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards along with Beaumont’s established policies and procedures, and as directed by the Director of Grounds. Must ensure that a successful grounds maintenance program is always maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for supervision of seasonal groundskeepers when assigned for a project.
• Turf maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging and renovations.
• Prunes, weeds and maintains planting and flower beds.
• Operates grounds equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Responsible for the performance and condition of all ground’s equipment.
• Reports all equipment breakdowns and malefactions to the Director of Grounds as soon as possible.
• Applies horticultural chemicals to proper specifications.
• Participates in landscape construction projects.
• Performs snow removal and the application of deicers as required.
• Attends and participates at in-service educational classes and on the job, training programs. workshops, seminars, etc. and directed.
• Follows all established safety procedures and precautions when performing duties.

Qualifications/Skills

• Background in grounds/landscaping field.
• Experience in turf maintenance, planting, pruning and landscape maintenance practices.
• Mechanical ability with a thorough knowledge of equipment and its intended us.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 80 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk the entire campus.
• Must be able to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent with continuing education credits or work-related experience required.
