About the Department

Scheduling/Availability

  • This is a temporary/seasonal position that works from approximately early June through mid-August
  • Successful candidates must be available to work July 4 & July 27-August 2
  • Successful candidates are expected to be available to work approximately 30-40 hours per week 
    • Please note that working hours may be longer during event weeks
    • The exact working schedule will be determined once the successful candidate is selected
  • Successful candidates must have the ability to work long hours during special event operations
    • Please note that event hours may occur outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

Supervisory Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have no formal supervisory duties, but may direct the work of other seasonal employees and/or volunteers.

Position Duties

General responsibilities of Seasonal Event Workers include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate daily, in a timely and professional manner, with staff, entertainers, participants and the public
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support for event planning and coordination including, but not limited to: mailings, record maintenance, phone and e-mail communication/responses
  • Assist with event preparation, supply organization and inventory management
  • Support communications efforts, including assembling and distributing materials
  • Successful candidates may drive a variety of vehicles from golf carts to vans to pick up and deliver materials
  • During events, ability to troubleshoot assigned area(s) to deal with any issues on site

Event-specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Summer Fun Series
  • Provide on-site support for Summer Fun Series programs, including Empower Hour classes and Mid-week Music sessions
  • Assist with event setup and teardown, including equipment, signage, seating and activity areas
  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for participants, instructors, performers and vendors
  • Support instructors and performers to ensure smooth program delivery
  • Monitor event areas to promote participant safety and adherence to event guidelines
  • Assist with crowd flow, check-in and attendee engagement
  • Communicate issues or support needs to event supervisors in a timely manner
  • Maintain an organized, inclusive and welcoming environment
  • Provide accurate program and schedule information to attendees
July 4th Parade & Evening Celebration
  • Prepare and organize supply kits
  • Manage and distribute parade supplies to assigned locations
  • Oversee assigned parade staging areas to ensure smooth transition into the event
  • Check in Bike Brigade participants
  • Assist in supervising table setup volunteers at the Evening Celebration
Dublin Irish Festival
  • Coordinate volunteers distributing table covers and skirts across festival tent locations
  • Prepare Festival Committee, VIP and Sponsor fulfillment packets
  • Attend assigned promotional events to distribute marketing materials
  • Distribute supplies for Mass and Church services and coordinate with the Dublin Food Pantry during Sunday services
  • Conduct regular monitoring of VIP club areas to ensure exceptional guest service and operational standards
  • Maintain proactive communication with sponsors utilizing activation spaces to support engagement goals and address operational needs
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Availability to work from early June through mid-August
  • Availability to work July 4 & July 27-August 2
  • Ability to read simple maps
  • Organized, self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to manage time while working on multiple projects at once, with various deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience with Adobe Illustrator software
  • Previous experience in event management, customer service or other hospitality-related work
  • Previous experience with clerical, typing or office-related work
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform light lifting, moving, setup and breakdown tasks at special event sites
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work long hours during special event operations including events outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to use computers for sustained data input and processing
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
Other Requirements
  • Regular attendance, as governed by and in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, procedures and laws, is regarded as an essential requirement of this classification
