Elementary - Cafeteria Manager - Toth - Part-time

Reports to : Director of Food Service
6.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, 188 days per school year
Hours - 7:45 am - 2:15 pm (hours subject to change)
Hourly rate $16.68 per hour
 

Qualifications

1. Valid Driver's License
2. High School diploma or equivalent
3. Experience in the preparation of school lunches
4. Be clean, neat and over 18 years of age
5. Have the ability to organize and carry out lunchroom procedures
6. Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community
7. Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance
8. Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
9. Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students, staff and parents
10. School Nutrition or equivalent

General Description   

Manage the operations of the school cafeteria, including menu planning, food purchasing, food preparation, supervision, cost control and computer operations.

Essential Functions

1.  Keep complete inventory records
2. Oversee the locking of the storeroom
3. Take pride in personal appearance; keep person clean and keep clothing neat
4. Cooperate with the school principal as to time schedule for serving
5. Supervise the preparation and serving of all foods to ensure that it meets Federal and State guidelines.
6. Supervise the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment; washing and sterilization of dishes, silverware and utensils.
7. Teach staff workers correct procedures for the following:

-Quantity Cooking

-Efficient serving

-Sanitation

-Maintenance of equipment

-Orderly housekeeping

1.  Prepare food according to a planned menu and/or catering function and use tested, uniform recipes.   Determine that the finished product is of best quality in both flavor and appearance prior to serving.
2. Responsible for immediately reporting problems or accidents occuring in the kitchen or in the cafeteria.  Confer with the Child Nutrition Director in regard to personnel problems.
3. Check foodstuff/commodity shipments into the school; sign invoices only after verification of each order
4. Efficiently operate and train others to operate the computerized point of sale system
5. Maintain knowledge of all food service positions in his/her kitchen

Other Duties and Responsibilities

1.  Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
2. Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
3. Conduct other duties related to the Cafeteria Manager's duties as assigned by the food service director.

Additional Working Conditions

1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions
3. Occasional interaction among unruly children
4. Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds
