Position Overview

The Department of Human Sciences in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University invites applications for a full-time (9-month) assistant professor tenure-track position in the Sport Industry/Sport Management program. The Sport Industry undergraduate program is the largest in the College of Education and Human Ecology and has had tremendous growth over the past several years. The Sport Management master’s program within Kinesiology is consistently ranked among the top programs in the country based on its vibrant curriculum and relationships with intercollegiate athletics and recreational sports, making it a preeminent place for the professional development of students. Finally, the Sport Management doctoral program has produced over 100 graduates who have secured positions in academia and industry across the world.

Building on this record of excellence, the goal of this search is to add a promising scholar to an internationally renowned team of faculty whose research interests focus on various areas in Sport Management. We seek candidates with an excellent record of scholarship, teaching and service relative to the assistant professor rank and commensurate with a research-intensive university.

Performance Objectives

  • Develop an independent research agenda in Sport Management.
  • Contribute to a collaborative research team within Sport Management, the Department, College and University.
  • Effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses and engage in curriculum development to advance undergraduate and graduate education.
  • Advise and mentor graduate students to advance scholarship and career-readiness.
  • Engage in academic service to advance the missions of the Sport Management program, the Department, College and University.

Education and Experience Requirements

Candidates must have a PhD or EdD in Sport Management or closely related field; an active and well-articulated research agenda, coupled with interest and ability to secure external grant funding; evidence of successful undergraduate and/or graduate teaching in Sport Management; and an interest in contributing to the ongoing development of graduate and undergraduate programs in Sport Management.
