Job Description:
Title: Adjunct Faculty, Early Childhood Education (Spanish Fluency)

General Summary: The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program at Middlesex Community College is seeking qualified and passionate adjunct faculty to teach Early Childhood Education courses fully in Spanish. This position supports the College's commitment to access, equity, and culturally responsive education by expanding Spanish language course offerings within the ECE program.
The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering curriculum in Spanish that aligns with state standards, workforce needs, and transfer pathways. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to program growth while supporting multilingual students pursuing careers in early childhood education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Develop, adapt, and teach Early Childhood Education courses fully in Spanish, including all instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
- Ensure curriculum alignment with Massachusetts state standards, national early childhood education guidelines, and transfer requirements to four-year institutions.
- Implement engaging instructional strategies that support diverse learning styles and adult learners.
- Integrate culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices into course content and classroom instruction.
- Incorporate experiential learning opportunities such as service learning, observation hours, and field-based activities when applicable.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support to promote student success and retention.
- Maintain accurate course records, grading, and attendance in accordance with college policies.
- Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in early childhood education and bilingual instruction.
Student Support and Program Collaboration
- Support students with academic guidance related to coursework, career pathways, and licensure requirements.
- Communicate regularly with program leadership regarding curriculum alignment and instructional needs.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development opportunities, and assessment activities as appropriate.
- Represent the program's commitment to equity, access, and student-centered teaching.
Requirements:
- Master's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field.
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish, with demonstrated ability to teach academic content in Spanish.
- Experience teaching or working in early childhood education settings.
- Ability to develop and deliver curriculum fully in Spanish.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive teaching practices.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior college-level teaching experience.
- Familiarity with Massachusetts early childhood education standards and licensure requirements.
- Experience teaching bilingual or multilingual student populations.
- Experience with online or hybrid course delivery platforms.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: DCE adjunct faculty members are paid in accordance with the DCE salary step schedule which is as follows:
- Step 1- $1,397 per credit
- Step 2 - $1,487 per credit
- Step 3 - $1,585 per credit
- Step 4 - $1,688 per credit
Actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
Location: Lowell and Bedford Campuses as needed
Expected Start Date: May 2026
