Alkermes is seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern to join the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (MCP) group within the Research Organization during Summer 2026. This is a hands-on, laboratory-based internship designed for students interested in gaining practical experience in in vitro pharmacology and small‑molecule drug discovery, with an emphasis on CNS therapeutic areas.

The intern will work closely with experienced scientist to support biochemical and cellular assay development, execution, data analysis. This role provides exposure to modern plate‑based assay technologies, automation, and collaborative drug discovery research in an industry setting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. or PhD program in biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Coursework or hands‑on laboratory experience in biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, solution preparation).
  • Interest in drug discovery and pharmacology, particularly in vitro assay systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new experimental techniques.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Exposure to plate‑based assays (e.g., luminescence, fluorescence, HTRF, or similar technologies).
  • Introductory experience with cell culture or biochemical assays.
  • Familiarity with basic data analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism or equivalent).
  • Previous academic or industry research experience (internships, lab rotations, or thesis work).

Working Conditions:

  • This is a hands-on, laboratory-based internship 
  • Requires performing experiments in the lab
