Position Summary

The Memory Care Activity Assistant is responsible for supporting the emotional, physical, and social well-being of residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. This role focuses on creating and facilitating life-enriching activities tailored to residents’ cognitive abilities while providing compassionate assistance during mealtimes and daily routines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Activity Programming:

    • Plan and lead engaging, meaningful activities that promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and physical wellness.
    • Adapt activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of residents with memory impairment.
  • Resident Support:

    • Assist residents during meal times, ensuring a safe and dignified dining experience.
    • Provide encouragement and hands-on support with daily living activities as needed.
  • Specialized Care:

    • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related conditions.
    • Apply person-centered care principles to foster a positive, supportive environment.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Memory Care Director and care team to implement individualized care plans.
    • Communicate observations and changes in resident behavior promptly to appropriate staff.
