Quality Control Chemist

Trident Consulting is seeking a " Quality Control Chemist” for one of our client in "Kankakee, IL” A global leader in business and technology services.

Role: Quality Control Chemist

Location: Kankakee, IL (Onsite)

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Pay Rate: $20 - 25/hour

Shift Requirement: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day/Night) after training

Position Overview

The Quality Control Expert I supports multi-discipline analytical testing across various product lines to ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards. The role contributes to manufacturing support, product stability programs, product retention programs, and Reverse Osmosis (RO) water quality monitoring.

This position operates within a cGMP-regulated laboratory environment and requires strict adherence to GLP, GMP, and EHS guidelines.

Work Schedule

Training Phase

• 8-hour day shifts (Monday–Friday)
• Flexible start times:
• 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (typical for new hires)

Post-Training Schedule

• Rotating 12-hour shifts (every 2 weeks)
• Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Occasional Afternoon Shift (as needed): 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing on:
• Raw materials
• In-process/intermediate products
• Finished goods
• Interpret analytical data against:
• Product specifications
• Process controls
• Regulatory standards
• Initiate and document Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready quality records
• Support:
• Product Stability Program
• Product Retention Program
• Reverse Osmosis Water Quality Program
• Conduct laboratory support activities:
• Inventory management
• Supply control
• Documentation management
• Perform routine instrument maintenance:
• Calibration
• Preventive maintenance
• Cleaning
• Basic troubleshooting
• Participate in regulatory audits and inspection readiness
• Meet manufacturing and product release timelines

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in:
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Life Sciences

OR

• Associate degree + 2 years relevant laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in a cGMP Quality Control laboratory
• Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation:
• HPLC
• GC
• UV/Vis
• TOC
• Atomic Absorption (AA)
• Karl Fischer (KF)
• Knowledge of:
• Analytical chemistry
• Microbiology
• Environmental monitoring
• Plant hygiene processes
• Experience with:
• Minitab
• Microsoft Office
• Strong documentation and data integrity mindset
