Job Summary
The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing debtor communications, negotiating repayment arrangements, and ensuring compliance with debt collection laws and regulations. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to handle difficult conversations while maintaining composure. The specialist will support financial operations by resolving outstanding accounts, documenting interactions, and utilizing collections software to track progress.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Communicate with debtors respectfully and professionally to negotiate repayment solutions.
  2. Demonstrate strong persuasion and negotiation skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  3. Handle difficult conversations and resolve conflicts while maintaining composure.
  4. Document debtor interactions and maintain accurate records in collections software and CRM systems.
  5. Ensure compliance with debt collection laws, regulations, and company policies.
  6. Resolve blocked or stalled invoices and escalate issues when necessary.
  7. Manage time effectively to handle multiple accounts and meet deadlines.
  8. Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Required Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. 0–1 years of experience in collections or related customer service roles (financial or credit environment preferred).
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and empathy.
  4. Basic computing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Ability to obtain required license for collections upon placement.
  6. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  7. Reliable and adaptable to flexible scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications (if any)
  1. Some college coursework in Business or related fields.
  2. Experience using collections software and CRM systems.
  3. Familiarity with debt collection laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Certifications (if any)
  1. Collections license (must be obtained upon placement).
