pAs an integral part of the Imaging Services Team, the Magnetic Resonance Technologist provides support for the radiologists by performing highly specialized MRI studies in the MRI department and the Operating Room. Provides related work as required.br /br /The MRI technologist performs basic and complex MR imaging procedures and may be assigned post-processing responsibilities. The MRI technologist must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology. The candidate must maintain a high degree of accuracy in participant positioning and image acquisition/formation. He/she must maintain knowledge about magnetic field safety and properly screen all participants and visitors prior to admittance into the MR magnet room. The technologists prepares and administers paramagnetic contrast media in accordance with department policy, and state and federal regulations, maintaining accurate up-to-date records of procedures performed; ensuring accurate processing of radiology orders and exercises strict confidentiality./ppbEssential Duties:/b/pulliPerforms MRI procedures proficiently, accounting for variation in patients#39; conditions, ages and ability to cooperate./liliPerforms formatting, archiving, and remove command./liliMaintains equipment in good operating condition and reports malfunctions, maladjustments or necessary repairs./liliPerforms quality control procedures and/or assists Director of Medical imaging and Radiologists in quality management./liliDemonstrates knowledge of principles of MRI physics and computer science related to MRI scanning./liliDemonstrates complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Calibrates imaging systems periodically as required (i.e., tube warm-up)./liliDemonstrates correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills./liliSelects appropriate MRI scanning technique/equipment and determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions. Procedures are planned and executed considering physiologic and developmental age. Serves ages pediatric through geriatric./liliReviews examination for proper positioning, technique and identification as per approved protocols./liliConfirms patient identification by verifying name and birthdate./liliReviews patient questionnaire, doctor’s order and requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions, reviews with radiologist and patient if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness./liliRecognizes emergency situations, indicate code and properly administer aid as needed./liliPerforms visual inspections, selects appropriate equipment and applies immobilization devices as required./liliPractices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patient and instruments./liliRecords pertinent patient information and completes all paperwork as required and assists in maintaining files. Performs billing functions timely and accurately./liliPrepares examination for interpretation by radiologist. Scans supporting documentation into PACS./liliKeeps MRI scan rooms/work stations neat, orderly, and prepared and assures exam room is stocked with appropriate supplies. Assists with ordering and stocking of department supplies and equipment./liliWillingly performs other related duties outside immediate work area as assigned or required (i.e., scheduling, Q.C. follow-up, transport, clerical)./liliExhibits organizational skills and utilizes time efficiently./liliAccepts change as an opportunity for growth, learning and development; adapts to changing procedures and goals in a cooperative and positive manner./liliAssist in maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation with other departments, medical staff and fellow employees./liliActs as a mentor to and is a source of information for less experienced Radiology Technologist./liliActs as an ambassador of good will when interacting with all staff members and other departments./liliUses the chain of command appropriately to communicate any concerns with the department, co-workers or medical staff./liliResponsible for work schedule hours if any changes were made.
