divdivdivdivdivdivdivpspanCome work at a place where you have a direct impact on the quality of life for Kent residents, business owners and visitors alike!/span/p/div/div/div/div/div/div/divp/pp/pp/ppbAdaptive Recreation Day Camp Counselor/b/ppb(2 Positions Available)/b/pp/ppbHours: 38-40 hours per week/b/ppbCamp runs from June 24-August 7, 2026/b/ppbMandatory Training Dates: June 19, 22, and 23, 2026/b/ppbMandatory Parent Night: June 23, 2026/b/pp/ppbInterviews: Will be scheduled as applications are received/b/ppbMust be available for in-person interviews./b/pp/ppbHourly Rate: $18.75-19.75, depending on experience/b/pp/ppbDuties: /bUnder the direction of the Adaptive and Youth/Teen Manager, Adaptive Coordinator, and Co-Directors, plan and lead daily activities for children entering grades 4-6 (Fall 2026) with developmental and/or physical disabilities.  Camp consists of a maximum of 5 campers and 1-2 staff members.  Activities include field trips, sports, games, arts, and crafts./pp/ppbMinimum Qualifications/b/pullipMust be at least 18 years of age./p/lilipPossess a valid CPR and Standard First Aid Card by start date./p/lilipMust be enthusiastic, energetic, reliable, trustworthy, and remain calm under pressure./p/lilipAbility to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of all the campers./p/lilipAbility to work as a member of a team and accomplish tasks with little direct supervision./p/lilipAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple distractions and competing priorities./p/lilipApplicants are subject to Washington State background check./p/lilipOther requirements include three personal and/or work references./p/li/ulp/ppbPreferred Qualifications/b/pullipOne (1) year or more of experience working with children with or without disabilities in recreation, teaching, or day camp environment./p/lilipKnowledge of age appropriate athletic and social activities, crafts, and other large group activities for children between 4-6 grade (Fall 2026) with developmental and/or physical disabilities./p/lilipAbility to live by Kent Parks mission of “Dedicated to Enriching Lives” and demonstrate the following characteristics: responsible, respectful, honest, energetic, passionate, flexible, original, creative, dependable, thoughtful./p/li/ulp/ppbPhysical Requirements/b/pullipMust be able to physically play and demonstrate active games, work with arts and crafts materials./p/lilipOutdoor recreational environment subject to noise that varies from low to high, distractions, seasonal heat, adverse weather conditions and periodic interruptions./p/lilipExposure to extended periods of direct sunlight and/or cool and damp weather is possible./p/lilipStrong stamina and ability to keep up with campers./p/li/ulp/ppTemporary employees with the City of Kent do not receive insurance or time off benefits outside of those which are legally mandated.
