Security Guards (Anticipated Openings 2026-2027) - Full-time

pstrongDUTIES:/strong/p pnbsp;/p p1.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Protect life and property at assigned school./p pnbsp;/p p2.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Reports directly to the Principal of the school where assigned in cooperation with Safety and Security management./p pnbsp;/p p3.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Greets, registers and screens visitors at the school entrance. Assigns visitor pass and directs them to the proper destination./p pnbsp;/p p4.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Patrols and monitors assigned areas of the school buildings, grounds and parking lots to deter, detect, and report violations of the law and or school policy./p pnbsp;/p p5.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Detects, investigates and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles and activities./p pnbsp;/p p6.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Monitors and direct student movement throughout assigned school and properties./p pnbsp;/p p7.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Notifies the administrative staff, police, fire department, or other appropriate authorities of Security or emergency situations./p pnbsp;/p p8.nbsp; Operates metal detectors and conducts searches when directed to do so./p pnbsp;/p p9.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Uses and perform guard tour program depending on school assignment./p pnbsp;/p p10.nbsp; Assists with fire drills, lockdown drills and other emergency preparedness drills as necessary./p pnbsp;/p p11.nbsp; Attend and successfully complete all staff development training as required by the safety/security department./p pnbsp;/p p12.nbsp; Monitors and ensure smooth and safe traffic flow at arrival and dismissal./p pnbsp;/p p13.nbsp; To remain highly visible at all times and serve as a resource for all students, staff and visitors./p pnbsp;/p p14.nbsp; Performs other related duties as assigned by the principal, supervisor or other appropriate Administrator./p pnbsp;/p p15.nbsp; Works closely with building custodians./p pnbsp;/p p16.nbsp; Depending on assignment will assist in security related issues and activates after school hours for events such as open house and sporting events./p pnbsp;/p pstrongQUALIFICATIONS:/strong/p pnbsp;/p p1.nbsp; Three to fivenbsp; yearsrsquo; experience as Security Officer preferred./p pnbsp;/p p2.nbsp; High School Diploma or GED./p pnbsp;/p p3.nbsp; Valid Driverrsquo;s License./p pnbsp;/p p4.nbsp; Willingness and flexibility to work the schedule and location that best fits departmental needs./p pnbsp;/p p5.nbsp; Must be City of Springfield resident./p pnbsp;/p pnbsp;/p pemstrong"If you BELIEVE, we have a place for YOU on our team!nbsp; Come work for us!"/strong/em/p pnbsp;/p pstrongAbout our District/strong/p pnbsp;/p pSpringfield Public Schools is a cultural gem in Western Massachusetts that is committed to providing a learning environment that opens the doors of infinite possibilities to our amazing students and staff.
