Recreation Lead (Summer 2026 Seasonal)

h2About the Department/h2pThe Recreation Leads will assist in the development and organization of the summer camp programs and provide onsite leadership at their site for instructors to promote fun, enjoyment, health and safety of all participants. The following positions are available:brul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"listronguPlayground Pals Lead/u/strong: Provide onsite leadership and work direction to Recreation Instructors on implementation of the program of participants in 1supst/sup-6supth/sup Grade./lilistronguTiny Tots Lead/u/strong: Provide onsite leadership and work direction to Recreation Instructors on implementation of the program of participants 4 years old – Kindergarten./lilistronguSports Camp Lead/u/strong: Assist in the development and organization of the summer sports camp programs and provide onsite leadership for sports camp instructors to promote fun, enjoyment, health and safety of all participants./lilistronguGroup Leader/u/strong: Supervise all camp participants in their group. Group Leaders go from station to station helping Leads implement their activity at Community Adventures Camp./lilistronguCraft-Shack Lead/u/strong: Dedicate their time drawing, painting, tie dying, beads, and more with the participants at Community Adventures Camp. Leads are responsible for planning, organizing and delivering an appropriate range of arts and crafts for participants./lilistronguFun amp; Fitness Lead/u/strong: Provide a variety of activities including cardio, sports conditioning, step, yoga, and Zumba at Community Adventures Camp. Fun amp; Fitness Leads will have flexibility in the specific activities you teach and music to go along with them./lilistronguOutdoor Adventures Lead/u/strong: Organize activities such as hikes, fire building, cooking, fort building, camping and much more at Community Adventures Camp. Leads are responsible for planning, organizing and delivering appropriate activities for the participants./lilistronguUltra-Athletics Lead/u/strong: Provide coaching in more than one sport. Ultra-Athletics Leads will need to be flexible, organized and able to lead lessons for both large and small groups at Community Adventures Camp. Leads are responsible for planning, organizing and delivering an appropriate range of sports activities and programs for participants./li/ulbrstrongAnticipated Pay Range for New Hires is $19.57/hour - $21.17/hour./strongbrstrongstrong data-pasted="true"strong data-pasted="true"Position runs from June 8 to August 21, 2026. Daytime hours Monday through Thursday, plus some Fridays and occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed./strong/strong/strong/ph2Position Duties/h2pul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"liCollaborates with Recreation Coordinator and Recreation Assistant in scheduling, program planning (crafts, games, etc.) and implementation of the recreational program./liliResponsible for the overall supervision of crafts, games, and free time, ensuring health and safety precautions are met and the program is being implemented in adherence to City of Savage standards./liliResponsible for organizing and maintaining all camp equipment, supplies and camp areas, including supply acquisition and day to day planning./liliOversees all activities and ensures a safe, friendly, and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants (ages 6 to 10)./liliMaintains proper documentation for all accidents, incidents, complaints and participation.brbr/li/ulWhile these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees may be called upon to perform a variety of duties in their roles with the City of Savage./ph2Minimum Qualifications/h2pul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"liMust be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license./liliPrevious experience working with children is required./liliPhysical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 80 pounds./li/ul/ph2Other Qualifications/h2pul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"liWork is performed under immediate supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. /liliThis position is responsible for giving work direction to part-time staff; however, is not the direct supervisor./liliFrequent contact with other city divisions and the general public.
