ollispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions. /span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.  Classes are taught according to the progression detailed in the swim lesson skill level sheets./span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Ensures participant safety during the program by educating about, and enforcing safety rules and  maintaining class control. /span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Openly communicates with participants and their parents to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living;  appraises students and their parents of strengths, accomplishments and areas for improvement/skill progression.  /span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA; implements “3 minutes” in every class./span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Keeps accurate class attendance and skill evaluation records./span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations and participates in drills and procedures to the highest level of training permitted./span/li/ol p style="line-height:1.3800000000000001"strongspan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#dd5828"QUALIFICATIONS:/span/strong/p ollispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors./span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community./span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Must be at least 16 years of age and be able to swim; high school diploma and teaching experience preferred. /span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen Administration certification must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment./span/lilispan style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'verdana';color:#000000;font-weight:400"Must obtain YMCA Swim Lesson (YSL) instructor certification within one year of hire; all certifications must be kept current during employment. /span/li/ol
