pThe Camp Curiosity Instructor delivers and aids with the development of educational, science-based, and interactive curriculum to children ages 5-9 during the summer camp program. Camp Curiosity, Powered by Frost Science hosted by Frost Science at Ron Ehmann Park in South Dade. Instructors also oversee the classroom participants, Teaching Aides, and Volunteers. Classes should be entirely hands-on and inquiry-based. Indoor classes may include but are not limited to astronomy, aeronautics, engineering, physics, marine science, paleontology, chemistry, human health, and biology. Classes are assigned prior to the start of summer camp based on teacher preference and/or experience. The Camp Curiosity Instructor will report directly to the Camp Manager./p
pThe following is the required time commitment for the position./p

pHours are typically between 8:00 am � 4:00pm/p

pAvailability for all nine weeks of Camp Curiosity running from June 8- August 7. There will be no camp on June 19 and July 3./p

pAvailability to start June 1 for training and camp preparations (if this date is not possible, it is not an automatic disqualification but please note this on your application)./p

pScheduling adjustments will be made during camp weeks with low camper registration./p

pstrongKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:/strong/p

pDeliver�s science lessons and activities based on the particular week�s theme using Museum designed curriculum./p

pHelps provide a secure, safe environment for campers with a supportive atmosphere./p

/ul
ul
li
pReviews Museum designed curriculum before each lesson./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pImplements planned activities, experiments and crafts./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pMaintains classroom schedules and structure, including utilizing appropriate class management strategies./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pMaintains a professional manner at all times./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pWorks as a team member to ensure smooth camp operations./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pMaintains privileged or confidential information about campers or authorized persons./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pWorks closely with Teaching Aides and volunteers to deliver classes./p

ul
li
pDresses appropriately in the Frost Science uniform, including a provided Frost Science polo, solid-colored pants or long shorts (no jeans), and comfortable, slip-resistant closed-toe shoes. Can wear a light jacket but Frost Science uniform still needs to be visible./p

pWorks each day of summer camp for assigned weeks and arrives on time. In the event that tardiness or an absence are unavoidable, contacts the Camp Manager or Camp Coordinator in a timely manner./p

pCompletes and hands in written reports (incident reports, discipline logs, etc.) in a timely manner./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pCommunicates with the Camp Manager and Camp Coordinator regularly./p
/li

ul
li
pAids with the distribution and collection of camp evaluations./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pAttends mandatory orientation and training sessions at Frost Science prior to the start of camp./p

pstrongMINIMUM JOB/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:/strong/p

pA minimum of 2 years of college completed; however, Bachelor�s in a science or education field preferred/p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pExperience working with elementary age children./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pExperience with informal science education./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pDemonstrate leadership qualities, sound judgment, and flexibility./p
/li
/ul
ul
li
pCPR and First Aid Certified by the first day of camp (Frost Science will provide training if needed)./p

pPreferred: Experience working in a camp setting/p

li
pPreferred: Teaching certificate or previous teaching experience/p

pstrongREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:/strong/p
pApplicants should have strong experience working with youth in either a public or private classroom setting or in a museum or other learning camp setting. They should have strong classroom management skills, knowledge of science topics, and the ability to provide fun, interactive and engaging activities. The Camp Instructor will be working with Teaching Aides and volunteers. Therefore, it is imperative that the applicant comes to camp ready to lead, delegate, and exhibit an energetic attitude./p
