Ready to make an impact?/p p /p pAs a strongBroadband Technician II/strong, you will perform intermediate to complex installations, disconnects and service changes for residential customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home RFoG and GPON). These services include, but are not limited to, video service, HSD Services, and home phone service. This role performs moderate troubleshooting from the tap to the customer's electronic devices (TV, DVD, Modem etc.). This role performs underground and/or aerial construction involved with system plant, along with its' repair and maintenance supporting various customer-focused activities. This position will be responsible for installing, splicing, repairing and maintaining aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber optic and coax cable. This position will need to be knowledgeable of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of telecommunications./p p /p pstrongDue to in-field support and on-call requirements, the individual selected for this position will be required to reside within a 60-minute driving distance from the Bend, OR warehouse located at: 63070 Nels Anderson Rd, Bend, OR 97703./strong/p p /p pThis position can be hired at either a Broadband Technician I (Requisition ID #2026-28842), Broadband Technician II (Requisition ID #2026-28843) or Broadband Technician III (Requisition ID #2026-28844) level depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Different job postings exist for each of these positions. Please reference each job posting for the minimum qualifications required for each role and submit an application for each level that you are both interested and qualified for./p h2Responsibilities/h2 ul liPerforms intermediate and complex installation of all necessary cable wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware from the tap/MST to the customer’s equipment for reception of cable and other company services that are offered for single, multi-family customers and/or commercial dwellings over both Fiber Optic and Coax delivery methods. Position may be responsible for inspection and correction of NESC safety violations for new construction builds and new service drops and legacy facilities, . Position may be responsible for the coordination of underground drop burial work with contractor and in-house underground burial crews, filling out, submitting and pickup up permits from government agencies as required to perform work in the ROW, tracking and updating status within the systems. Duties also include inspections ensuring that work performed meets all construction and government standards and pre-inspection verifies of serviceability of new customers in regards to finding the best, most efficient and cost effective routes to provide service./li liPerforms connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, relocates, install additional outlets, fiber connections, and hardline cutovers; installs or removes equipment (i.e. converters) at single or multiple unit dwellings./li liUtilizes test equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues and ensure optimum reception both optical and RF. Uses Locators, TDR’s, FDR’s and OTDR’s while read system maps. This may include interpretation of system maps, calculation of signal loss of cable lines and/or devices using signal level meters, reading and understanding plant blueprints and updates to blueprints (excluding main trunk lines). This may also include pole, ladder, tower or alternative structure climbing along with the potential use of a bucket truck./li liPerforms all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NEC and NESC)./li liMonitors and records system, drop, and in-house leakage; properly records all required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etc./li liPromotes cable, internet, and other company services; educates customer on proper use of the service, including how to add additional services, channel lineups, proper equipment usage, and other services that are available./li /ul h2Qualifications/h2 pstrongRequired Qualifications/strong/p ul li1+ year basic technical telecommunications experience -OR- current/prior military service with honorable discharge./li li6+ months of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, or switch training./li liMust have and maintain a valid driver's license./li liMust follow the TDS attendance guidelines in order to meet TDS's business needs including but not limited to our obligations to our customers and to our customers' needs./li /ul pstrongOther Qualifications/strong/p ul liUpon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements, which may include a background check administered by the customer./li liRequires being available for on-call/standby responsibilities and may require occasional travel. Must be willing to work overtime as needed. /li liUpon hire, must successfully pass all components of the Safety Course curriculum./li liAbility to maintain DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements in relation to operating vehicles with a combined GVRW (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of 10,000 lbs./li liReliable and responsible, with a strong work ethic dedicated to a team./li liPractical knowledge/experience with computer applications or burial construction./li liFamiliarity with company products and services./li liProven organizational skills and ability to multi-task with limited instruction./li liDemonstrated customer service and sales skills, as well as effective communications skills (verbal and written) for interaction with internal and external customers./li liAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment./li liPhysical requirements may vary based on company needs: Ability to dig, lift and climb./li liSuccessful completion of the SCTE Broadband Premise Technician course./li li SCTE Service Technician Certification to include Technical Foundation, Customer Service, Troubleshooting; or SCTE BDS Certification; or NCTI Installer Technician Course./li liSuccessful completion of the SCTE Installer Certification./li /ul pDo you meet the Required Qualifications but are unsure if your experience aligns with the Other Qualifications?
