The new Emergency Department will have approximately 115 beds and a 57 bed observation unit on the 2nd floor. Maintains effective lines of communications with the medical staff, nursing, social work and management, and coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care.br /br //spanspan style="font-size:12pt"/span/ppspan style="font-weight:800"span style="font-size:12pt;color:rgb( 0 , 112 , 192 )"Responsibilities/span/spanspan style="font-size:12pt"/span/pullispan style="font-size:12pt"Performs medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to System patients. Provides direct patient care on a daily basis and provides all necessary medical record documentation including Medicare/Medicaid and third party payers requirements. /span/lilispan style="font-size:12pt"Works as scheduled and may rotate through System. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. /span/lilispan style="font-size:12pt"Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Attendance at Medical Staff meetings and participation with/on JMH committees/sub-committees. /span/lilispan style="font-size:12pt"Participates in utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs to improve patient care. Provides medical consultative services to other medical personnel, specifically related to overall patient management. Involves patients (and family, when necessary) in the decision making process about treatment. Meets productivity standards. Maintains effective communication and working relationships with JHS medical personnel in the community. Collaborates with Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Nursing in the clinical management of patients. Performs all credentialed medical procedures according to standards, including time-out protocols.
