pDescription/ppWork individually or as a part of a team of Transportation Construction Inspectors to provide oversight of contractor’s work efforts by ensuring quality control and contract compliance for roadway, structure, and bridge construction/maintenance projects of routine to moderate complexity, under the direction of a Transportation Construction Supervisor (TCIS), Construction Manager or designee./ppbr//ppstrongEssential Functions/strong of this position include but are not limited to the inspection and documentation of work in the following areas:/pulliInspection and monitoring of contractual field work including excavation, drainage facilities, roadway surfaces, and structures/liliReporting contractor’s daily operations/liliTaking field measurements of pay items/liliReviewing placement of and witnessing tests associated with the quality control of construction materials/liliReviewing line, grade, dimension, and elevation parameters./liliOverseeing and enforcing the installation of appropriate erosion and sediment controls/liliOverseeing and enforcing the installation of highway work zones and traffic control devices/liliMaintaining project records including daily Project Site Activity (PSA) reports, materials notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, and monthly estimates/liliReviews and monitors Equal Employment Opportunity/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) documentation and compliance with Federal labor requirements/regulations for Federal-aid construction projects, ensuring contractor compliance with program requirements/li/ulpReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions./ppRequirements/ppstrongRequired Education amp; Experience/strong/pulliMust qualify as a TCI-1, TCI-2 or TCI-3/liliNECEPT Bituminous Asphalt Field Technician Certification and/or PennDOT Concrete Field Technician Certification as indicated for level of qualification/liliNICET Certification (preferred)/li/ulpstrongAdditional Eligibility Qualifications/strong/ppThe successful Transportation Construction Inspector candidate is expected to be proficient in and possess knowledge and experience in the following areas:/pulliECMS – Engineering and Construction Management System/liliPPCC - PennDOT Project Collaboration Center/liliOperation of computer equipment/liliOperation of iPad including functional knowledge of appropriate associated and required “Apps” i.e. Concrete app, MPT app, VSIR app, etc./liliRoadway, structure and bridge construction/maintenance/repair/rehabilitation methods, materials, standards and specifications/liliAbility to read and interpret roadway, structure and bridge plans and specifications/liliApplication of mathematical formulas including algebra, geometry and trigonometry/liliMaintenance of detailed records/liliPerform and document required materials testing/liliAbility to communicate with the client, contractor personnel and the general public in a professional and courteous manner/li/ulpstrongCompetencies/strong/polliCommunication proficiency/liliEthical Conduct/liliFlexibility/liliInitiative/liliTime Management/li/olpstrongWork Environment/strong/ppThis job is performed in an office environment and or transportation construction field job sites.
