The Speech Pathologists demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served.brbrbWhat you will dobr/bbrulliEvaluates assigned patients through selection, administration, and interpretation of formal and informal diagnostic assessments to determine the levels of functioning and intervention needs in all areas of speech pathology./li liDemonstrates knowledge of age-specific factors and performs satisfactorily related to patient’s age infant through geriatrics as noted on unit specific guidelines and competencies./li liDevelops and implements individualized treatment programs for the patients needing services./li liEstablishes and modifies intervention goals and strategies for patients/ treatment program based on on-going evaluations. Uses selected activities and/or tasks to promote and maintain health, and to achieve treatment goals./li liProvides direct therapy services to patients using various functional settings and strategies./li liPlans therapy with in the patient’s individual physical, emotional and intellectual capabilities as indicated and coordinated with the rehabilitation, medical, and nursing care plans./li liPrepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other such reports./li liCommunicates effectively with patient, family, physician, and other disciplinary team members regarding the patient status, progress, and needs./li liEstablishes rapport and work cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members (including family/physician) throughout the patient’s intervention program./li liParticipates in program development of the department.
