pbSummary:/b/pp/ppThe Bay Area News Group is currently seeking an experienced Machinist to work in a team-based, self-managing environment at our Concord facility, ensuring equipment is well-maintained to produce high-quality products on time and within budget./pp/ppbWhat you will do:/b/pp/pullipMonitor and troubleshoot newspaper production equipment during operation to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement; and repair faulty equipment or systems/p/lilipWork with chemicals to clean and prepare machinery for repairs and machining/p/lilipPerform basic repairs and maintenance offline, and emergency repairs under deadline pressure/p/lilipClean up tasks on press, warehouse, auxiliary equipment as necessary, including daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance tasks/p/lilipElectronic or mechanical devices including tools, hardware, software and other equipment used in the performance of the essential functions of this position include the following: unit control panels, advanced press control systems, calibration equipment, precision measuring equipment, basic hand tools, variety of machine shop tools, PCs and database program entry, and forklift/clamp truck/p/lilipWork night, weekend and holiday shifts as required; regular and reliable attendance is a necessary element of this job/p/li/ulp/ppbWhat you will bring:/b/pp/pullipMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and work within deadlines/p/lilipExcellent oral and written communication skills with multiple levels of management and across teams/p/lilipComfortable working with PC’s and computer driven equipment/p/lilipAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent time management skills/p/lilipHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; post secondary schooling in mechanics and/or machining is desired/p/lilipMinimum of two years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or Machinist on production equipment required/p/li/ulpbr /bWork Environment:/b/pp/ppThis job operates in a printing plant environment. The printing plant environment is well-lit.
