In partnership with the University of Miami, Holtz Children’s also trains the most pediatric physicians of any medical center in the southeastern United States./span/pp/ppbspan style="color:#0070c0"br //span/b/ppbspan style="color:#0070c0"Summary/span/b/pp/pulliParamedic is a member of the health care team who performs functions which support the delivery of a single standard of care, and delivery of emergency first aid for a group of patients relating to their hygiene, safety, nutrition, elimination and comfort needs. /liliThe function is performed under the supervision of a physician, medical provider or registered nurse. /liliParamedic applies artificial respiration or administers oxygen in cases of suffocation and asphyxiation. /liliAdministers antiseptic solution to prevent infection until patient can receive professional care. /liliStarts and administers intravenous fluids. /liliAssists in lifting patient onto wheeled cart or stretcher and into and out of ambulance. /liliMay aid physicians during emergency situations./li/ul br / br / pbspan style="color:#0070c0"Responsibilities/span/b/pp/pulliAssists physicians and nurses with performing medical procedures, including examinations, minor surgical interventions, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation. /liliPerforms technical procedures as delegated, including but not limited to establishing IV access, performing ECGs and vital signs/telemetry monitoring, collecting specimens, providing wound care, transporting patients, patient positioning, mobility, drainage, personal hygiene: bath, dressing, bed making/linen changes etc.). /liliDocuments and communicates assessment findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff. /liliUses a systematic process to provide/modify care and patient/family education and support. /liliPrepares supplies and equipment and utilizes specialized equipment as needed when providing patient care. /liliAssists with keeping department areas clean, stocked, and orderly. /liliPrepares and cleans exam rooms, patient treatment areas and stretchers between patient uses, as needed. /liliTakes and picks up food orders for patient#39;s kitchen evaluation. /liliAssists in the fabrication of adaptive and assistive equipment, i.e. washing mitts, wheelchair gloves, safety belts, straps, etc. /liliAssists with office duties as needed, i.e. answering phone, taking messages or any other related clerical duties. /liliFollows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list. /liliDemonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). /liliPerforms all other related job duties as assigned./li/ul br / pbspan style="color:#2578a9"Experience/span/b/ppGenerally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.br / br / /ppbspan style="color:#2578a9"Education/span/b/ppHigh school diploma is required.
